The objectives of this article were to divulge the Nursing School of Ribeirão Preto University of São Paulo as a World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Nursing Research Development and to contribute to is history, by registering the facts concerning this designation. Based on the theoretical framework about the influence of external environment in organizations of excellence, some factors that guide such designation by World Health Organization are identified. Since the concept of Collaborating Center was expressed, this Center is characterized by its Reference Terms and compromises accomplished from 1988 through 1992, considering the tendencies and perspectives.
本文的目的是披露圣保罗大学 Ribeirão Preto 护理学院作为世界卫生组织护理研究发展合作中心的情况，并通过记录有关这一指定的事实，为其历史做出贡献。基于关于外部环境对卓越组织影响的理论框架，确定了一些指导世界卫生组织进行此类指定的因素。自合作中心的概念提出以来，考虑到趋势和前景，该中心以其参考条款以及1988年至1992年达成的承诺为特征。
