The UKCC's proposals for PREP take effect on April 1, 1995. There are three major proposals: preceptor support; maintenance of effective registration and standard-setting for post-registration courses. There are four requirements for maintaining effective registration: notification of practice; return to practice programmes; five days of study every three years; and professional profiling.
