A literature review of competency-based orientation for nurses.

This article is a literature review of competency-based orientation (CBO), which includes a description of the component parts of CBO, its efficiency and effectiveness, and a discussion of how various hospitals have implemented CBO. Suggestions for approaching the design of CBO may help staff development educators make a decision to change to CBO.
