Wound management of the traumatically injured patient.

All trauma patients have one thing in common: the presence of a wound. The critical care nurse's knowledge of the mechanism of injury, host risk factors, physiology of wound healing, and wound treatment allows the nurse to develop a plan of care which will optimize wound healing. Critical care nurses play a pivotal role in the establishment and maintenance of an environment which will maximize traumatic wound healing.
