Providing home intravenous care to patients with acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) in rural areas can be quite a challenge. The possibility of poor access to care, limited hospital resources, or a shortage of pertinent education available to the nursing staff may combine to make this specialized form of care difficult. In this article, these challenges are discussed and solutions are suggested.
