Experimental data indicate that EtOH extract of Acanthopanax giraldii (EAGH) has pronounced analgesic action and reduces not only high temperature induced by proteinic jelly, but also normal body temperature in rabbits. However no effect was observed on the fever induced by choleraic vaccine in rabbits. The acute ip LD50 of EAGH in mice was 73.34 +/- 7.29 g/kg (crude drug). In prolonged toxicity test on rats no harmful effects on body weight, blood picture, liver and kidney functions were observed.
实验数据表明，红毛五加乙醇提取物（EAGH）具有显著的镇痛作用，不仅能降低蛋白胨引起的高热，还能降低家兔的正常体温。然而，对家兔霍乱疫苗引起的发热没有观察到影响。EAGH对小鼠的急性腹腔注射半数致死量为73.34±7.29 g/kg（生药）。在大鼠长期毒性试验中，未观察到对体重、血象、肝肾功能有有害影响。
