Neisseria meningitidis subgroup Y, although commonly isolated from the nasopharynx, rarely has caused meningitis in nonmilitary individuals. Meningococcus (serogroup Y) caused pneumonitis, meningitis, and arthritis in a previously healthy woman. Findings from examination of spinal fluid were minimal, but the clinical aspects of the illness were similar to those seen with other meningococcal serotypes.
Y群脑膜炎奈瑟菌虽然通常从鼻咽部分离得到，但在非军人个体中很少引起脑膜炎。脑膜炎球菌（Y血清群）在一名既往健康的女性中引起了肺炎、脑膜炎和关节炎。脑脊液检查结果不明显，但该疾病的临床症状与其他脑膜炎球菌血清型所见相似。
