Evaluating nursing practice: satisfaction at what cost?

Nursing research is essential to evaluate professional practice components during changes in care delivery focused upon patient outcomes. Two units were studied before and after a work redesign to patient-centered care. The pilot study combined two satisfaction tools and surveyed patients, registered nurses and clinical support personnel. As a result, roles were reevaluated and the educational process strengthened.
