Plasma renin activity was measured by bio-assay in 52 children with kwashiorkor, in 28 with marasmus and in 21 healthy children. Plasma renin activity was significantly increased in children with kwashiorkor and marasmus, compared with healthy children, and in children who died, compared with survivors. No strict causal relationship could be found between plasma renin activity and the degree of oedema in kwashiorkor. Increased renin activity probably results from a terminal change in cardiovascular function.
采用生物测定法对52名夸休可尔症患儿、28名消瘦症患儿和21名健康儿童测定血浆肾素活性。与健康儿童相比,夸休可尔症和消瘦症患儿的血浆肾素活性显著升高;与存活患儿相比,死亡患儿的血浆肾素活性也显著升高。在夸休可尔症中,血浆肾素活性与水肿程度之间未发现严格的因果关系。肾素活性升高可能是心血管功能终末期变化所致。
