A selective review of the literature on psychosocial issues in kidney transplanted children and adolescents was conducted. Treatment programs and research studies dealing with the emotional and social adaptation of children following kidney transplantation have become increasingly common. The literature is largely descriptive. More research building on the findings of these descriptions is critical. Possible opportunities for continued study with adolescents following kidney transplantation are given.
