[The physicochemical properties and biological characteristics of metals for medical instruments].

The metals having antimicrobial properties are of great interest in reducing pyoseptic complications in patients operated on when implants and medical instruments which contact with the body long are manufactured. The paper gives brief information on the physicochemical, antimicrobial, and toxic properties of a number of metals, on the mechanism of their toxic action.
