The prevalence of diabetes mellitus and the distribution of serum glucose levels among 254 immigrant Ethiopian Jews (Operation Solomon) were studied immediately after their arrival in Israel in 1991. No case of diabetes was found. Although the body mass index of this population was higher than those obtained in Operation Moses, the serum glucose levels in almost all age-groups were significantly lower.
