The named-nurse initiative: what is the point?

The first two papers in this short series explored different views of the named-nurse initiative. The first, more sceptical view, questioned the value of the initiative for nurses, while the second explored the potential value for improving patient care. This paper draws the arguments together and suggests ways in which lessons may be learnt that will help nurses make sense of the named-nurse initiative.
