Occupational asthma is one of the commonest occupational lung diseases. This is a case of asthma related to arc-welding in a shipyard. Serial peak expiratory flow rate readings were taken with and without exposure to the welding process. The results showed that the patient had occupational asthma from welding. This case report serves to remind us of the need to ask every adult with asthma for their occupational history. It emphasises the need for early diagnosis and removal from the cause of asthma. A delay in diagnosis may lead to non-specific bronchial reactivity and persistence of symptoms.
职业性哮喘是最常见的职业性肺病之一。这是一例与造船厂电弧焊相关的哮喘病例。在接触和不接触焊接过程的情况下，连续测量了呼气峰值流速。结果显示该患者患有因焊接导致的职业性哮喘。本病例报告旨在提醒我们，有必要询问每一位成年哮喘患者的职业史。它强调了早期诊断以及脱离哮喘病因的必要性。诊断延误可能导致非特异性支气管反应性增加和症状持续存在。
