Many students experience medical school as much more intense, stressful, and rigorous than the undergraduate school years. Female students, in particular, have different concerns and needs that require additional attention. As the number of women pursuing careers in medicine increases, their professional development is a topic that medical schools and community practitioners must address. An overview is provided of the female student's experience in medical school, followed by recommendations to enhance her academic and clinical training experiences.
