Lipoblastoma is a rare benign neoplasm of embryonal fat which occurs primarily in infants and young children. Since 1958, lipoblastoma has been recognized as an entity distinct from other benign or malignant tumors of the adipose tissue. This tumor presents in two forms: as a localized, well-circumscribed lesion known as lipoblastoma, or as a multicentric type of lesion known as lipoblastomatosis. The oldest patient documented in the English literature was 8 years of age; however, we report herein the case of a 14-year-old boy in whom a lesion excised from the left thigh was histopathologically confirmed to be a lipoblastoma.
