Abstract

In many countries the rights of patients and consumers of health services are gaining ground and becoming law. As elsewhere, consumers in Brazil are becoming increasingly knowledgeable and demanding respect for their rights. Yet many Brazilian health services--public and private--are still reluctant to accept public evaluation and criticism. But with Brazil's new consumer's code the stage is set for a more active role of patients in their health decisions and for nurses and health professionals to acquiesce to consumers' dissatisfaction and respond with improved professional performance.

在许多国家,患者及健康服务消费者的权利正在得到认可并逐渐成为法律。与其他地方一样,巴西的消费者对自身权利愈发了解,并且要求得到尊重。然而,巴西许多公共和私立的健康服务机构仍不愿接受公众的评估与批评。但随着巴西新的消费者法规的出台,患者将在自身健康决策中发挥更积极的作用,护士和健康专业人员也将默认消费者的不满,并通过提升专业表现做出回应。
