Although homicides at work attract the media's attention, data extrapolated from the National Crime Victimization Survey show nonfatal workplace violence to be much more common. The survey estimates that 3.5 million personal crime victimizations occur annually, including 900,000 aggravated and simple assaults and 100,000 rapes and robberies.
