Intramedullary locked nail systems have significant biomechanical advantages in the therapy of per- and subtrochanteric fractures. The rate of intraoperative complications for the gamma nail was very high (42.2%-17.2%); the rate for the gliding nail was 2.7%. The rate of postoperative complications was 13.8%-6% for the gamma nail and 3.9% for the gliding nail.
