Antibiotic use in dentistry. ADA Council on Scientific Affairs.

Although microbial resistance to antibiotics is increasing rapidly and alarmingly throughout the world, dentistry has been relatively conservative with antibiotic use and probably has not contributed greatly to the problem. The ADA Council on Scientific Affairs has prepared this statement on the use of antibiotics in dentistry to clarify the profession's role in combating the growing microbial resistance to this popular class of drugs.
