A one-step modification of the Malloy-Evelyn procedure for total serum bilirubin assay is described. Color development occurs in five minutes. This modification, which is suitable for automation and ultramicrodetermination, is compared to the Malloy-Evelyn and Jendrassik-Grof methods with special reference to pediatric samples.
