Due to the demands on medical and psychosocial facilities, an above average accumulation of unemployed patients was investigated. General practitioners and internists have reported high stress experiences of patients and the difficulties encountered with their illness reflection. It was clear in the examinations, that there was no fidderence in the way unemployed and employed reflected their illness, although a difference was shown in their coping of critical life experiences. In scope of the medical conversation, unemployed patients could convey specific coping abilities as a secondary prevention.
