Abstract
An ingestion of an unknown quantity of Zyprexa (olanzapine) tablets in a suicide is described. Biological fluid samples obtained at autopsy were analyzed for the presence of olanzapine by gas chromatography equipped with nitrogen-phosphorous detector and gas chromatography/mass spectroscopy. The blood concentration of olanzapine was 490 micrograms/dl and the concentration in gastric contents was 4100 micrograms/dl.
