BACKGROUND
Common aetiopathogenic factors may explain the association of ulcerative colitis with autoimmune disorders such as systemic lupus erythematosus.
PATIENTS
We report two cases of ulcerative colitis associated with idiopathic systemic lupus erythematosus: one patient who developed ulcerative colitis 11 years after having been diagnosed as a case of systemic lupus erythematosus and one case of simultaneous appearance of the two diseases. The lupus clinical manifestations were in neither case correlated with the treatment of ulcerative colitis.
CONCLUSION
The association between ulcerative colitis and systemic lupus erythematosus is rare. Although a chance occurrence cannot be excluded it is possible that both conditions share some genetic or immunological defects.

常见的致病因素可能解释溃疡性结肠炎与自身免疫性疾病如系统性红斑狼疮之间的关联。
患者
我们报告两例溃疡性结肠炎合并特发性系统性红斑狼疮的病例：一例患者在被诊断为系统性红斑狼疮11年后发生溃疡性结肠炎，另一例为两种疾病同时出现。两例患者的狼疮临床表现均与溃疡性结肠炎的治疗无关。
结论
溃疡性结肠炎与系统性红斑狼疮之间的关联罕见。虽然不能排除偶然发生的可能性，但这两种疾病可能存在一些共同的遗传或免疫缺陷。
