[Providencia isolated from the stools of patients with gastroenteritis].

92 providencia strains were isolated from the stools of patients with gastroenteritis. All specimens were negative for other pathogenes such as salmonella, shigella, enteropathogenic E. coli and vibrios. Viral etiology was not investigated. The distribution according to years and months is shown in the table. 17 isolations made during August, seemed rather high and gave the impression of a small epidemic.
