The role of food allergens in triggering atopic eczema remains controversial. Certain foods can cause acute hypersensitivity reactions, which are more common in atopic individuals, but this does not necessarily imply that these allergens cause or trigger eczema. This article discusses the evidence for and against dietary intervention as a treatment for patients with atopic eczema.
