This article focuses on ways in which implementation projects can ensure that work on clinical quality becomes normal business in NHS organisations. It draws on the work in the 16 PACE projects and other discussions to suggest a model for moving from project to mainstream work. It concludes by suggesting some implications of this way of working for future arrangements for clinical governance.
