Abstract

Ploidy and productivity of yeast strains and hybrids obtained by crossing various industrial races were studied. Biological productivity of yeast cultures increases with ploidy as was found by comparing biological productivity (biomass accumulation) in haploids, diploids, triploids, and tetraploids. Possible factors causing an insignificant decrease in productivity of some tetraploids as compared to triploids are discussed.
