Abstract
When fresh guinea pig serum is added to chicken red blood cells (RBC) agglutinated by E. rhusiopathiae, the RBC lyse. This indicates that the E. rhusiopathiae-RBC complex is capable of inducing an alternative pathway of complement activation.
