Somatomedin (SM) was determined by bioassay in cord blood from 100 neonates born at 24-42 weeks of gestation and from three infants with major congenital malformations. SM levels rose with gestational age and had a positive correlation with birth weight, length and head circumference independantly of gestational age. These findings suggest a relationship between somatomedin and fetal growth.
采用生物测定法测定了100例孕24 - 42周出生的新生儿及3例患有严重先天性畸形婴儿的脐血中生长调节素（SM）的含量。生长调节素水平随孕周增加而升高，且与出生体重、身长和头围呈正相关，不受孕周影响。这些发现提示生长调节素与胎儿生长之间存在关联。
