Abstract

BACKGROUND

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a common bacterial infection in childhood, sometimes associated with urological malformations and, in a few cases, causing permanent renal damage.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

A retrospective study was performed of children with UTI first time admitted to Ullevål Hospital during the period 1988-97. All medical records with diagnoses related to the urinary tract were investigated. Criteria for inclusion were bacteriuria and temperature > or = 38.5 degrees C in children over one year of age, and bacteriuria below one year of age.

RESULTS

Age, sex, symptoms, urine sampling method, medical treatment and radiological investigations were evaluated. 180 children were included, (38% boys, 62% girls), 87% of the boys were referred during this first year of life. Fever as sole symptom was found in one of six. Urinary tract related symptoms were rare. Urine sampling was performed by suprapubic aspiration in only 7%, and was not specified in half of the samples. Imaging evaluation was performed in almost all children. More than half of the evaluated children had one or more abnormalities, vesicoureteric reflux being the most frequent.

INTERPRETATION

In our material we find a high frequency of urological malformations. Better routines for urine sampling and evaluation of long term complications are suggested.

尿路感染（UTI）是儿童期常见的细菌感染，有时与泌尿系统畸形相关，少数情况下会导致永久性肾损伤。

材料与方法

对1988 - 1997年期间首次入住于勒沃尔医院的UTI患儿进行回顾性研究。调查了所有与泌尿系统相关诊断的病历。纳入标准为1岁以上儿童菌尿且体温≥38.5℃，1岁以下儿童菌尿。

结果

对年龄、性别、症状、尿液采样方法、治疗及影像学检查进行了评估。纳入180名儿童（38%为男孩，62%为女孩），87%的男孩在出生后第一年被转诊。仅六分之一的患儿以发热为唯一症状。泌尿系统相关症状罕见。仅7%的尿液采样通过耻骨上穿刺进行，半数样本未注明采样方法。几乎所有儿童都进行了影像学评估。超过半数接受评估的儿童有一处或多处异常，其中膀胱输尿管反流最为常见。
