The aim of the study was to evaluate the influence of chronic cholecystitis on haemostasis. The study was conducted on 48 patients suffering from chronic cholecystolithiasis admitted for cholecystectomy to the Department of Surgery Regional Hospital in Białystok. The control group consisted of 25 healthy subjects in this same age range. As a result of the study we found out that patients with chronic cholecystitis had hypercoagulability characterised by increase plasma concentrations of the sensitive markers of haemostasis: prothrombin fragments (F1 + 2), thrombin/antithrombin complex (TAT) and D-dimer.
