Abstract

The author described the estimation of toxoplasmic antibodies by the method of reverse enzyme immunoanalysis (IgM-ELISA) in 476 sera. The results of IgM-ELISA were compared with the complement fixation reaction (CFR) and indirect fluorescent reaction IgM-ELISA. Of 217 sera which were IgM-NFR positive 115 were positive in IgM-ELISA. In clinically confirmed acute toxoplasmosis high absorbance values of IgM-ELISA were recorded and during repeated examination a dynamic drop of antibodies was observed. The author discusses the importance of IgM-ELISA for the differentiation of acute and chronic stages of toxoplasmosis and draw attention to false IgM-NFR positivity in the sera they examined.
