Bone involvement in endometrial cancer has been described in less than 15% of the patients with metastatic disease. The medical literature reports 29 cases, although none involving the sacrum.
We present a case of a 62-year-old woman who underwent surgery for endometrial adenocarcinoma in December 2002 (FIGO stage IB grade 1). In January 2006, the CT scan revealed a lesion on the inferior side of the sacrum. Rescue surgery, consisted of sacrectomy with en bloc excision of the metastasis. After 26 months of follow up the patient is disease-free.
This case is unusual for the following reasons: the site of metastasis was the sacrum, metastasis was secondary to a tumour whose histological grade suggested a good prognosis (G1), the patient lacked clinical signs, the diagnosis was fortuitous and because of the surgical treatment pursued and its successful outcome.
