Frequent falls, disused atrophy or sarcopenia, as well as osteoporosis and osteoarthritis, are commonly found and the major risk factors for musculoskeletal ambulation disability symptom complex (MADS) among the elderly. In this article, focusing on the frequent falls and sarcopenia, the author is dealing with exercise interventions for prevention of these conditions among the community-dwelling elderly by reviewing recent articles of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and meta-analysis. He also introduces recent findings on the relationship between serum vitamin D concentration and falls or sarcopenia among the elderly, which well be one of the effective treatment for those frail conditions.
