The author reflects on problems of training in clinical oncology. He draws attention to shortcomings in undergraduate training at medical faculties and presents a draft of a new curriculum. He recommends that in oncological courses in the 7th semester only general oncology from an integrating and synthetic aspect should be included. Practical training is conceived as oncological propedeutics. Special oncology is taught in individual clinical disciplines in close collaboration with workers of the Oncological Clinic. Hitherto valid syllabi for postgraduate training are sufficiently extensive in the author's opinion. The author demands, however, stricter demands in attestation examinations in oncology.
