To study the flavonoids and their antioxidant activities of Artemisia annua.
Isolation and purification were carried out by silica gel and Sephadex LH-20 column chromatographies. Compounds were identified by physicochemical properties and spectral analysis, then their antioxidant activities were evaluated by ORAC assay.
Five flavonoids were isolated from the plant. Their structures were identified as 5-hydroxy-3,7,4'-trimethoxyflavone(1), 5-hydroxy-6,7,3',4'-tetramethoxyflavonol(2), blumeatin(3), 5, 4'-dihydroxy-3,7,3'-trimethoxyflavone(4) and quercetin(5), respectively. Compounds 1-5 could slow up the attenuation rate of the fluorescence induced by AAPH.
Compounds 1-3 are isolated from the plant for the first time. Compounds 1-5 all possess the potential antioxidant activities.

采用硅胶柱色谱和葡聚糖凝胶LH - 20柱色谱进行分离纯化。通过理化性质和光谱分析鉴定化合物,然后用氧自由基吸收能力(ORAC)分析法评估其抗氧化活性。
从该植物中分离出5种黄酮类化合物。它们的结构分别被鉴定为5 - 羟基 - 3,7,4'-三甲氧基黄酮(1)、5 - 羟基 - 6,7,3',4'-四甲氧基黄酮醇(2)、芹菜素(3)、5,4'-二羟基 - 3,7,3'-三甲氧基黄酮(4)和槲皮素(5)。化合物1 - 5能够减缓由偶氮二异丁腈引发的荧光衰减速率。
化合物1 - 3首次从该植物中分离得到。化合物1 - 5均具有潜在的抗氧化活性。
