The current prognosis of leukemia and lymphoma in childhood has dramatically improved. Successful therapy causes new problems for the survivors. A retrospective study of 34 former patients from the Universitätskinderklinik Frankfurt emphasizes the strong influence of disease and treatment on the perception of present and future. Reported memories and experiences stress the necessity of reflections on the conditions of oncologic therapy.
