AIDS counselling is vitally important in the prevention of HIV transmission. It is also widely used in the context of patient management. Culturally sensitive counselling approaches need to be developed for the African setting. Establishing counselling services requires problem-solving, managerial interventions and interpersonal skills, much the same as an AIDS counselling interview. A framework for problem-solving is described in this paper.
