Hydrolysis of p-nitrophenyl guanidinobenzoate is characteristic of a tumour cell surface proteinase. We found this activity in three transformed or tumour cell lines, but not in two normal fibroblast strains. Immunochemical inhibition of plasminogen activator activity did not affect guanidinobenzoatase activity.
