A new nortriterpenoid saponin, 3β,17β-dihydroxy-28-nor-12-oleanen-16-one 3-O-β-d-galactopyranosyl (1 → 2)-{α-l-arabinopyranosyl (1 → 3)-[α-l-arabinofuranosyl (1 → 4)-β-d-glucuronopyranoside]} (1), along with two pairs of known isomers, was isolated from the roots of Symplocos caudata Wall. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic and chemical methods.
从尾叶山矾（Symplocos caudata Wall.）的根中分离得到一种新的三萜皂苷，3β,17β - 二羟基 - 28 - 降 - 12 - 齐墩果烯 - 16 - 酮3 - O - β - D - 吡喃半乳糖基（1→2）-{α - L - 吡喃阿拉伯糖基（1→3）-[α - L - 呋喃阿拉伯糖基（1→4）-β - D - 吡喃葡萄糖醛酸苷]}（1），以及两对已知异构体。通过光谱和化学方法阐明了它们的结构。
