In this study, the authors examined the effects of acupuncture and moxibustion on the expression of various inflammatory cells and mediators in the nasal mucosa of an allergic rhinitis (AR) animal model.

Twenty-eight BALB/c mice were divided into 4 groups: control, levocetirizine (Lcz), moxibustion (Mox), and acupuncture (Acu). To induce AR, mice were intraperitoneally sensitized to ovalbumin (OVA) and challenged with intranasal OVA. At 7 days following the final sensitization and every day for a further 7 days, the Lcz group was orally administered levocetirizine (50 mg/kg), the Mox group was subjected to 5 seconds of moxibustion stimulation at the juncture of the medial canthus and nostril, and the Acu group was subjected to 30 seconds of acupuncture stimuli at the same point. The authors measured the degree of positive reaction to substance P, STAT6, nuclear factor kappa B (NFκB), and iNOS via immunohistochemical staining of the nasal mucosa.
The degree of positive reaction to substance P, STAT6, NFκB, and iNOS was markedly decreased in the treatment groups compared to that in the control group. Notably, the above indices were most significantly decreased in the Acu group, followed by the Mox group and then the Lcz group (P = .000).
In an allergic rhinitis animal model, acupuncture and moxibustion are shown to exhibit an antiallergic effect and exert their effects by reducing the expression of substance P, STAT6, NFκB, and iNOS.
本研究旨在观察针灸对变应性鼻炎(AR)动物模型鼻黏膜中各种炎症细胞和介质表达的影响。

将 28 只 BALB/c 小鼠分为 4 组:对照组、左西替利嗪(Lcz)组、艾灸(Mox)组和针刺(Acu)组。通过腹腔内给予卵清蛋白(OVA)致敏和鼻内 OVA 攻击来诱导 AR。在最后一次致敏后 7 天内,每天进行以下处理:Lcz 组口服左西替利嗪(50mg/kg),Mox 组在内眦和鼻孔交界处进行 5 秒艾灸刺激,Acu 组在同一部位进行 30 秒针刺刺激。通过免疫组织化学染色测量鼻黏膜中 P 物质、STAT6、核因子κB(NFκB)和诱导型一氧化氮合酶(iNOS)的阳性反应程度。
与对照组相比,治疗组 P 物质、STAT6、NFκB 和 iNOS 的阳性反应程度明显降低。值得注意的是,Acu 组的上述指标下降最为显著,其次是 Mox 组,然后是 Lcz 组(P =.000)。
在变应性鼻炎动物模型中,针灸表现出抗过敏作用,并通过降低 P 物质、STAT6、NFκB 和 iNOS 的表达发挥作用。
