A series of 86 contact lens wearers has been examined by tear-stix tests (35 wearing hard lenses and 51 soft). Of these, 52 showed no infection (group A), while 34 had signs and/or symptoms of infection (group B). Leucocyte-esterase positivity was seen in 8% of group A and 62% of group B. Stix-positive were 13% of group A and 85% of group B (positive leucocyte-esterase and/or positive nitrite and/or positive hemoglobin). The examinations are quick and easy to carry out, with a reasonable sensitivity and specificity.
对86名隐形眼镜佩戴者进行了泪液试纸检测（其中35人佩戴硬性隐形眼镜，51人佩戴软性隐形眼镜）。其中，52人未出现感染（A组），而34人有感染迹象和/或症状（B组）。A组中8%的人白细胞酯酶呈阳性，B组中62%的人白细胞酯酶呈阳性。A组中13%的人试纸检测呈阳性，B组中85%的人试纸检测呈阳性（白细胞酯酶阳性和/或亚硝酸盐阳性和/或血红蛋白阳性）。这些检测快速且易于实施，具有合理的敏感性和特异性。
