Prenatal and peri-natal events play a fundamental role in health, development of diseases and ageing (Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHaD)). Research on the determinants of active and healthy ageing is a priority to: (i) inform strategies for reducing societal and individual costs of an ageing population and (ii) develop effective novel prevention strategies. It is important to compare the trajectories of respiratory diseases with those of other chronic diseases.
产前和围产期事件在健康、疾病发展和衰老过程中起着根本性作用（健康与疾病的发育起源，简称DOHaD）。对积极健康老龄化的决定因素进行研究是当务之急，其目的在于：（i）为降低老龄化人口的社会和个人成本提供策略依据；（ii）制定有效的新型预防策略。将呼吸系统疾病的发展轨迹与其他慢性疾病的发展轨迹进行比较很重要。
