To study heterogeneity of HIV isolates ARV-2 and strains isolated from lymphocytes of asymptomatic carriers were cloned using limiting dilutions of virus and infected CEM cells. All viral stocks turned out to be biologically heterogeneous giving clones with cytotoxic and noncytotoxic type of infection. Coinfection of CEM cells with cytotoxic and noncytotoxic variants resulted in interference of their biological effects. This interference ended with distinct cytotoxicity. No correlation between the production of virus and the amount of HIV DNA was found pointing out that nonfunctional DNA copies exist.
为研究HIV分离株ARV-2的异质性,采用病毒有限稀释法对从无症状携带者淋巴细胞中分离出的毒株进行克隆,并感染CEM细胞。结果发现所有病毒株在生物学上均具有异质性,产生具有细胞毒性和非细胞毒性感染类型的克隆。细胞毒性和非细胞毒性变体共同感染CEM细胞导致其生物学效应相互干扰。这种干扰最终导致明显的细胞毒性。未发现病毒产生与HIV DNA量之间的相关性,这表明存在无功能的DNA拷贝。
