The purpose of the present study was to provide the hearing threshold levels in the elderly Korean population, and to compare Korean data with that in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 7029 (2000).
Data were collected from a total of 526 ears from 112 males and 151 females aged 60-84 years. All participants were screened otologically by the procedure given in ISO 8253-1 (2010).
Results showed that the pure-tone average was gradually elevated with increasing age. The amount of hearing loss was greater in males than in females, and the high frequency hearing thresholds were worse than the low frequency hearing thresholds in males and females. The hearing threshold levels were higher at low frequencies in males and at all frequencies in females than the norms of ISO 7029 (2000).
Results from this study will be partly used for standardization of hearing thresholds as a function of age in Korea and for updating the ISO 7029.
本研究旨在提供韩国老年人群的听力阈值水平,并将韩国的数据与国际标准化组织(ISO)7029(2000)中的数据进行比较。
收集了112名男性和151名年龄在60 - 84岁女性的共计526只耳朵的数据。所有参与者均按照ISO 8253 - 1(2010)中的程序进行了耳科筛查。
结果显示,纯音平均值随年龄增长逐渐升高。男性的听力损失程度大于女性,且男性和女性的高频听力阈值均比低频听力阈值差。男性低频和女性所有频率的听力阈值水平均高于ISO 7029(2000)的标准。
本研究结果将部分用于韩国听力阈值随年龄变化的标准化以及更新ISO 7029。
