Abstract

OBJECTIVES

The objective of this study was to assess the effect of new bonding techniques on enamel surface.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

Sixty upper central incisors were randomly divided into two equal groups. In the first group, metal brackets were bonded using TransbondXT and, in the second group, the same brackets were bonded with Maxcem Elite. The shear bond strength (SBS) of both agents to enamel was measured and the number and length of enamel cracks before bonding, after debonding and after polishing were compared. The number of visible cracks and the adhesive remnant index (ARI) scores in each group were also measured.

RESULTS

There were significantly more enamel cracks in the Transbond XT group after debonding and polishing compared to the Maxcem Elite group. There was no significant difference in the length of enamel cracks between the two groups; but, in each group, a significant increase in the length of enamel cracks was noticeable after debonding. Polishing did not cause any statistically significant change in crack length. The SBS of Maxcem Elite was significantly lower than that of Transbond XT (95% confidence interval).

CONCLUSION

Maxcem Elite offers clinically acceptable bond strength and can thus be used as a routine adhesive for orthodontic purposes since it is less likely to damage the enamel.

目的

本研究的目的是评估新型粘结技术对牙釉质表面的影响。

材料与方法

60颗上颌中切牙随机分为两组,每组数量相等。第一组使用Transbond XT粘结金属托槽,第二组使用Maxcem Elite粘结相同的托槽。测量两种粘结剂与牙釉质之间的剪切粘结强度(SBS),并比较粘结前、脱粘结后和抛光后牙釉质裂纹的数量和长度。还测量了每组中可见裂纹的数量和粘结剂残留指数(ARI)评分。

结果

与Maxcem Elite组相比,Transbond XT组在脱粘结和抛光后牙釉质裂纹明显更多。两组之间牙釉质裂纹的长度没有显著差异;但是,在每组中,脱粘结后牙釉质裂纹的长度显著增加。抛光并未导致裂纹长度出现任何具有统计学意义的变化。Maxcem Elite的SBS显著低于Transbond XT(95%置信区间)。

结论

Maxcem Elite具有临床上可接受的粘结强度,因此由于其对牙釉质损害较小,可作为正畸常规粘结剂使用。
