Abstract

Administration of indomethacin in a dose of 0.01 and especially in a dose of 0.02 mg/kg body weight three times was found to cause a severe damage of the liver. It manifested itself in an increase of the activity of aminotransferases and alkaline phosphatase in blood serum, an increase of peroxidation of lipids of hepatocytic membranes, a decrease of reserves of restored glutathione, a disturbance of the functional state of the liver. The increase of lipid peroxidation is thought to play an important role in the pathogenesis of such lesions.
