The aim of the present study was to investigate, anti-obesity effect of (AV), and (GS) whole extract powders administration to high-fat diet (HFD) fed C57BL/6J mice for 12 weeks.
At the end of experiment, different parameters such as body weight, feed intake, organ weights, fasting blood glucose, oral glucose tolerance test, plasma lipid levels, and expression analysis of adipocytokines were evaluated.
At the end of experimental period, oral administration of both herbs showed a significant ( < 0.05 and < 0.001) decrease in the plasma glucose and lipid levels in HFD fed mice. In addition, increased in the epididymal fat (E. fat) weight in the HFD group was significantly ( < 0.05) reduced on GS administration alone. Finally, quantitative mRNA expression analysis of adiponectin gene was significantly up-regulated in AV supplementation. Further, no effect was observed with the both herbs on pro-inflammatory cytokines (interleukin 6 and tumor necrosis factor-a) in the E. fat tissue of HFD fed group.
The anti-obesity and other metabolic studies depend on the type of diet, different parts of herbal extractions, and animal models used. Further studies are required in this area to strengthen the anti-obesity effects of herbs with active component, and it can be used a pro-drug instead of whole extract.
本研究旨在探讨给予高脂饮食(HFD)喂养的C57BL/6J小鼠12周的(AV)和(GS)全提取物粉末的抗肥胖作用。
在实验结束时,评估了不同参数,如体重、采食量、器官重量、空腹血糖、口服葡萄糖耐量试验、血脂水平和脂肪细胞因子的表达分析。
在实验期结束时,两种草药的口服给药均使HFD喂养小鼠的血浆葡萄糖和脂质水平显著降低(<0.05和<0.001)。此外,仅给予GS时,HFD组附睾脂肪(E.脂肪)重量的增加显著降低(<0.05)。最后,在补充AV后,脂联素基因的定量mRNA表达分析显著上调。此外,在HFD喂养组的E.脂肪组织中,两种草药对促炎细胞因子(白细胞介素6和肿瘤坏死因子-α)均无影响。
抗肥胖和其他代谢研究取决于饮食类型、草药提取物的不同部位以及所使用的动物模型。该领域需要进一步研究以增强具有活性成分的草药的抗肥胖作用,并且可以将其用作前体药物而非全提取物。
