Abstract

A novel strain, DCY108 was isolated from soil of a Panax ginseng field, Yeoncheon province (38°04'N 126°57'E), Republic of Korea. Strain DCY108 is Gram-negative, non-motile, non-flagellate, rod-shaped, and aerobic. The bacterium grows optimally at 25-30 °C, pH 6.5-7.0 and 1 % NaCl. Phylogenetically, strain DCY108 is closely related to Pedobacter jejuensis JCM 18824, Pedobacter aquatilis JCM 13454, Pedobacter kyungheensis LMG 26577 and the type strain of the genus Pedobacter heparinus DSM 2366. The DNA-DNA relatedness values between strain DCY108 and its close phylogenetic neighbors were below 30.0 %. The DNA G+C content of strain DCY108 was determined to be 45.1 mol%. The predominant quinone was menaquinone 7 (MK-7). The major polar lipids were identified as phosphatidylethanolamine and three unidentified aminolipids AL1, AL13 and AL17. Iso-C, iso-C3OH and summed feature 3 (C ω7c/C ω6c) were identified as the major fatty acids present in strain DCY108. The results of physiological and biochemical tests allowed strain DCY108 to be differentiated phenotypically from other recognized species belonging to the genus Pedobacter. Therefore, it is suggested that the newly isolated organism represents a novel species, for which the name Pedobacter panacis sp. nov is proposed with the type strain designated as DCY108 (=CCTCCAB 2015196 = KCTC 42748).

从韩国涟川道人参田土壤(北纬38°04′,东经126°57′)中分离出一株新菌株DCY108。菌株DCY108为革兰氏阴性菌,无运动性,无鞭毛,杆状,好氧。该细菌在25 - 30°C、pH 6.5 - 7.0和1% NaCl条件下生长最佳。系统发育分析表明,菌株DCY108与济州Pedobacter jejuensis JCM 18824、水生Pedobacter aquatilis JCM 13454、庆熙Pedobacter kyungheensis LMG 26577以及Pedobacter heparinus DSM 2366属的模式菌株密切相关。菌株DCY108与其近缘系统发育邻株之间的DNA - DNA相关性值低于30.0%。菌株DCY108的DNA G + C含量测定为45.1 mol%。主要醌类为甲基萘醌7(MK - 7)。主要极性脂类鉴定为磷脂酰乙醇胺和三种未鉴定的氨基脂类AL1、AL13和AL17。异-C、异-C3OH和总和特征3(C ω7c/C ω6c)被鉴定为菌株DCY108中存在的主要脂肪酸。生理生化测试结果使菌株DCY108在表型上与Pedobacter属的其他已确认物种区分开来。因此,建议将新分离的生物体代表一个新物种,为此提出名为Pedobacter panacis sp. nov的名称,模式菌株指定为DCY108(=CCTCC AB 2015196 = KCTC 42748)。
